本課程培養學生下列知識: |
近年來,不論是母語或是第二語言,世界上有四分之一的人都在講英文;他是現今貿易,教學和科學的全球語言;英文竄升為全球語言是一個很有趣的歷史現象;他蘊含的實用性和教育法也影響了台灣,在這堂課裡面,我們會將英文的過去現在和未來的相關性拿出來討論;我們也會尋求了解以下的問題"為什麼我們要學英文?我們希望他可以給我們什麼好處?學英文的人後來的工作?人們學英文的真正動機是?英文的形式在不同的地方是如何被改變?"藉由回答這些和其他問題,學生會發展出一個在TESOL研究寬廣的基本需求1.傳達全球化與英語教學相關知識2.探究英語教育政策在全球化的影響3.加強學生的跨文化溝通教學能力4.養成學生自我持續學習能力Currently, one fourth of the people of the world speak English, either as a native or secondary language. It is the current global language of commerce, education and science. The rise of English as a global language is an intensely interesting historical phenomena that has implications for its practical usage and pedagogy in Taiwan. In this course, we will consider English in relation to its past, present and future. We will seek to understand the following questions: Why do we learn English? What can we hope to profit from it? What becomes of people who learn English? What really motivates people to learn English? How is English transformed by people who speak in widely differing locations? By answering these questions and others, students will develop a broad basis necessary for research in TESOL.
