課程目標 本課程旨在拓展學生對本國語文鑑賞與應用的深度和廣度,以增進讀寫表達等各項能力。教學上,包括文學領域的探索,兼具文字運用、語文說寫訓練及文化的體察。因此,課程進行除了文學鑑賞力的培養,並力圖與現實生活聯結,探討文學與生活,文學與人生的各層面。藉以訓練學生獨立思考,學習解讀作品,培養邏輯思辨的能力,並啟迪時代思想。 Objectives The purpose of the course is to broaden the scope and depth of students" appreciation for Chinese literature. In the mean time, it will enhance students" abilities in reading and writing. In classes, we will explore many domains of Chinese literature to study the use of words, expression, and culture. Therefore, students will not only improve their ability to appreciate literature but also enhance the ability in independent and logical thinking.

唐諾《文字的故事》、林西莉《漢字的故事》。其餘自訂。

教學內容 壹、 課程進行方式
本學期授課方式大致以「講授與討論」、「課堂報告」為主。
「講授」方面由老師進行課程內容解說,過程中並希望同學們能加入互動,對課程內容進行討論、心得交換。
「課堂報告」方面,修課同學必須在學期初完成分組,共同完成學期中相關報告。報告形式、內容設計方面,可就課程內容作進一步討論。
另外,在期中考後擇期播放文學電影ㄧ次,以分析現代文學中小說與電影改編的發展,課後並須繳交「心得報告」一份。

貳、 課程內容
課程內容主要分為兩部分,期中考前以「古典文學」為主,共計有三個單元:
第一單元:文字的故事,主要以張大春《文字的故事》、林西莉《漢字的故事》二書為主,以分組閱讀與報告方式進行,同學可在二書中汲取報告材料,和同學分享中國象形文字背後蘊含的文化美感與歷史典故。
第二單元:陶淵明〈桃花源記〉/賴聲川《暗戀桃花源》
「桃花源」一直是中國文人詩歌創作與生命安頓的重要泉源,因此本單元將從陶淵明著名的〈桃花源記〉開始探討文人的理想與現實之境。最後,對照賴聲川的經典舞台劇《暗戀桃花源》,看古今文人在不同時空下的「桃花源想像」。
第三單元:《山海經》、唐代傳奇與明清神異小說
本單元主要藉由閱讀中國早期的志怪小說,探討神話、妖怪之原始信仰,魏晉與唐代短篇小說則是以「意境的構成」作為主要探討內容。
期中考即以課堂內講授之「古典文學」為考試範圍,閱讀篇章與單元數量,則視課程進度做調整。
期中考後以「現代文學——小說」為主,計有:白先勇〈金大班的最後一夜〉、黃春明〈兒子的大玩偶〉、蘇童〈犯罪現場〉等篇章,將探討小說寫作技巧、小說流派以及現代小說的分析方法。期末考即以現代小說分析為主。
Syllabus I. Curricular Activities
1. Lecture and Discussion.

2. Group Oral Report: At the beginning of the semester students need to group themselves for the term paper. With regard to what should be presented in the paper, students can either take up and develop the issues raised in class, or explore any literary work, classical or modern, that interests them.

In an attempt to explicate the connection between the literary originals and their adaptations, in addition, we will after midterm exam display a movie adapted from modern fiction and ask students to submit a written feedback.


II. Course Description:
1. Before Midterm Exam:

Revolving round classical literature, this section of the course includes three units: (a) Shishuoxinyu and the bohemianism in the Wei-jin period. Discusses the use of allusions and the literary styles in Wei-jin "sketch fiction," thereby revealing the gusto of the bohemian figures. (b) Tao Yuan-ming's Taohuayuanji and Lai Sheng-chuan's. Seeks first to identify the romanticism and realism in Chinese poetry and poets and then to compare the imaginative construction of the arcadia in ancient and modern literary minds. (c) Shanhaijing and the "Jiouge" of Chuci. Explores the primitive belief in the supernatural beings and the significance of myths.

2. After Midterm Exam: In this section, we will focus our attention on the introduction of the techniques, categories and critical approaches of modern and contemporary fiction. Bai Xian-yong, Huang Chun-ming, and Su Tong are writers of our concern.
