這門課旨在概要介紹應用語言學。主要分兩部分，前部分著眼於語言結構與語言使用，內容包含語法、詞彙、言談分析、語用學、語料庫語言學。後部分著眼於應用語言學的基本領域，內容含第二語言習得、心理語言學、社會語言學、語言學習者動機策略。視進度，聽說讀寫等相關語言技能亦將介紹。修習本課程後，學生將有能力從介紹的領域中擇其所好從事進階的應用與研究。 |
Objectives |
The course addresses topics in Applied Linguistics. It will be divided into two major parts: the first part covers linguistic structures such as syntax, lexicon, discourse analysis, pragmatics and corpus linguistics, and the second part is devoted to topics of applied linguistics such as second language acquisition, psycholinguistics, and sociolinguistics, and language teaching. Students interested in the various topics in linguistics will be able to explore them independently when they complete the course. |

This introductory course provides an overview of Linguistics. It introduces principles and methods professional linguists employ in exploring human language. It is designed to be a first course in linguistics, meaning that no prior knowledge of it is assumed for its students.
