This course is designed for those who are not English majors. Though we emphasize four skills—reading, writing, listening and speaking, we will practice more reading, grammar and writing during first semester, and in turn, we practice more speaking and listening during second semester. We use Essential Reading Book 1 as our textbook, and focus on grammar exercise and reading skills in class, writing from a correct sentence to a whole article. Aside from skills of reading and writing, discussion will be very important in class. We will have some issues related to our daily life for discussion in English. We have quizzes and writing practice in class. Participation is one of semester grades. Absence without leave will affect your grades.
