音樂是超越國界的，而英、美之流行音樂更是全球年輕人趨之若鶩的。本課程擬介紹當代英、美之流行音樂，從膾炙人口的西洋老歌、經典名曲、到話題十足的流行單曲，學生可從中學習英文、自我表達，並認識相關流行文化。 |
Objectives |
Music is beyond any country boundaries. Modern popular music in both America and United Kingdom has been fashionable for the young people all over the world.
Given this, the course Learning English from Popular Music aims to introduce the popular music of both America and U.K. ranging from old English songs, ever-lasting classical songs, to typical popular songs. Besides, during certain holidays like Christmas, Valentine’s Day and New Year, special songs will also be introduced. Basically, the course will focus on some bands (Beatles, Queen, ABBA, Bee Gees, Boys Zone) and some singers (Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, Madonna…). In this way, students are expected to learn English from popular songs, to cultivate the interest in music, to improve the ability to express, and to understand the relevant culture. |
