Objectives |
This course will introduce students to ethnicity, class, gender, nationalism, globalization and other important topics in current cultural research. |

這門課會被劃分為四個部分,每個部分會要求讀一本書(約每週50頁),每個部分會涵蓋文化研究的主要概念,包括歷史,殖民主義,日常生活中的政治,兩性和文化轉變 |
Teaching Materials |
The course will be divided into four sections. Each section will be devoted to the reading of one book (approximately 50 pages per week). Each section will cover major ideas in cultural studies, including history, colonialism, the politics of daily life, gender, class and cultural transformation. |

每堂課都會一個十題的考試,這些考試會涵蓋當週上課講過的課程(40%),在每個課程告一段落的時候,學生會在教室裡面寫一篇由老師選的和課程相關問題的作文(40%),除了在課堂上的小考之外,學生會被要求做至少一個報告並且藉由問題和討論來傳輸給同學 |
Grading |
A ten question quiz will be given each class. It will cover the reading given for the week (40%). At the end of each section, students will write in-class essays on questions chosen by the instructor and related to the readings (40%). In addition to the in-class quizzes and exams, students will also be expected to make at least one presentation to the class during the semester and contribute to the class through questions and discussion (20%). |
