此「語言與文化」課程將以語言與文化在人類心理是相互影響的假設為出發。本課程可以幫助語言學習者們瞭解身為文化本體的自己。當人們認知到他們是自己文化的產物，他們便得以準備得更好同時也更願去探究來自其他文化背景的人們之行為，並且更願意不帶判斷地去接受他們，由此希望可以去接受其他人們的語言，在某種程度上，也可以有更高的意願進入另一種有趣的語言和文化探索之旅。 |
Objectives |
This class in language and culture proceeds on the assumption that language and culture affect one another in the human mind. This course promises to make language learners aware of themselves as a cultural being. Once people recognize that they are products of their own cultures, they are better prepared and more willing to look at the behavior of persons from other cultures and accept them nonjudgmentally, which may, hopefully, bring about the acceptance of other people’s language and a greater willingness to enter, at least to a degree, into what can be the exciting adventure of another language and culture. |

Teaching Materials |
The course is divided into four parts. Each part considers a main theme. Each section begins with a film, the script of which will provide the primary text for that section. |
| 成績評量方式 |
每個部分結束之後會有一個20題的選擇題考試,每個考試都佔了期末成績的25%,如果學生不能再考試的時候出席,他們應該要先告知老師,如果沒有事先告知,老師會要求出示請假單;老師將會斟酌全部的補考考試 |
Grading |
At the end of each section students will be given a twenty-question test. Each test counts for 25% of the grade. If students cannot be present for a test, they must notify the instructor or the main office in advance. If this is not possible, the instructor must be notified as soon as possible and official notice for absence supplied. All make up exams will be given only at the instructor’s discretion. |
