本課程以英文句式與結構之嫺熟為出發,期使學生使用正確的英文之外也能了解形式與功能之間的交互關係,進而應用此一知識技能於一般英文寫作、商業寫作、編校、與教學等。 |
Objectives |
The objective of this course is to acquaint the students with aspects of English grammar, its sentence patterns and various constructions so that the students will not only use the language right but also use the right language to server various needs. It aims at equipping the students with the knowledge that forms and functions interact in language; such knowledge is to be applied to common English writing, business writing, proof-reading/editing, and teaching. |

Course Description: This course is designed to give students a strong foundation in the basics of Standard English grammar. There will be more detailed discussions of many aspects of grammar such as sentence patterns, phrases, clauses, and punctuation. Then students will be given exercises that emphasize sentence-level writing skills to apply their knowledge of the material just studied.
Course Objectives: On completion of the course, students should be able to: 1. recognize the elements of sentence structure; 2. improve their reading comprehension; 3. develope a perspective on the relative importance of several ideas within a single sentence; and 4. be alert to unexpected errors in their everyday reading and writing. |
