課程目標 本課程是進修部四技大一學生的兩學期必修課程。此共同的英文課程旨在提升學生基本溝通能力,以幫助學生加強聽說讀寫各方面的英語能力。 Objectives This two-semester course is required for all freshmen who are enrolled in the four-year evening program. It is a general English course that aims to enhance students’ basic communication skills, in order to help students strengthen the main skills in English language learning, such as listening, speaking, reading and writing.

教學內容 本課程的教學內容選擇較貼近學生真實生活裏可能使用英語的情境或較有趣的主題,例如觀光,引發學習動機。教師自行設計能增進同學口說機會的講義及活動。

課堂主要採用溝通式教學法,尤其利用小組分工完成一項活動(例如解決問題、訊息交換等)之教學設計以期自然循序提昇學生溝通能力。

Syllabus Topics related to learners' real-life situations or interesting themes, e.g. tourism, are chosen for this course. The instructor designs handouts and activities which help enhance learners' speaking skill.

Communicative approach is adopted in class. Collaboration through activities, such as problem-solving tasks, information gap, etc., will be emphasized in order to promote learners' communicative competence in a natural and steady manner.
