進修部:本課程是進修部四技大二學生的一學期必修課程。此課程旨在進一步強化學生之英語溝通能力。同時，學生也能學到「如何有效的學習英文」，為日後之終身學習，奠基紮根。 |
Objectives |
Day program: This course is required for all sophomores who are enrolled in the four-year day program and students who are enrolled in the two-year day program. It is a general English course that aims to further enhance students’ communication competence and to strengthen their reading skills as well as their understanding in terms of the writing process.
Evening program: This one-semester course is required for all sophomore students who are enrolled in the four-year evening program. The purpose of this course is to further enhance their communication competence. The students will also learn “how to learn English effectively,” which will become a solid foundation for their life-long learning. |

本課程的設計是針對非英語系的學生。內容強調閱讀、文法練習及寫作。文法的練習為課上加強的重點， 從正確的句子到完整的文章。我們使用教科書為 NorthStar: Reading and Writing Basic/Low intermediate。除了讀寫，課後討論亦是重點。學生須正常出席並參與課內討論，課程將包括小考及文法練習。未經請假而未出席者成績將會有所影響。 |

Course Description
This course is designed for those who are not English majors. We emphasize on reading, grammar practice and writing skills. We will much focus on grammar practice. We study basic grammar and write from sentence, to paragraph and then to a whole article. We use NorthStar: Reading and Writing Basic/Low intermediate as our textbook. Aside from skills of reading and writing, discussion will be very important in class. Students are required to attend class regularly and encouraged to participate in-class discussion. We have quizzes and writing practice in class. Absence without leave will affect your grades. |
