課程目標 此課程與大多數的學期選修課一樣,涵蓋不同科系的學生,其彼此的英文程度可能有相當大的差異,因此課程設計上須相當謹慎。在教學方法上,以主題式的教學應是最適合學生的,因此課堂上會介紹實用且有趣的主題。此課程重視的是教學的內容而非所教內容的多寡。學生們在第一學期應熟知日常生活會話之運用及其功能,如此才能勝任第二學期的課程、或是更進階之課程。除了使用教科書之外,老師應該推薦工具書讓學生參考用。如此一來,不僅能使老師的教學更實用,學生亦能滿足其需求。 Objectives Like most semester-based selective courses, this class consists of students from different departments and their proficiency levels of English can vary a great deal, hence a careful design of syllabus is essential. In accordance to teaching methods, students are best taught task-based. Useful and interesting tasks should be introduced here; note that it is quality but not quantity that is of the concern for this class. It is important for students to familiarise with the everyday use of spoken & functional English in the first semester which will then prepare them better to the second semester or even other advanced classes. Moreover, rather than the use of textbooks, teachers should recommend tool books for reference purpose only. By doing so, not only that it is practical for teachers to instruct lessons but students are also tailored towards their needs.

教學內容 本課程幫助學生融入生活口語與聽力練習的機會,以便學生能將這些技巧運用於日常生活中。
課程以主題單元進行,每三週完成一單元,讓學生充分練習同主題之各相關議題與用語。
Syllabus This course helps students engage in daily life conversation and active listening so that they will be competent to apply the language in their real life.
This is a theme-oriented course and every three weeks we will cover the same topic so that students will be able to understand a wide range of its related issues by using the langauge receptively and productively.
