這門課旨在概要介紹應用語言學。主要分兩部分，前部分著眼於語言結構與語言使用，內容包含語法、詞彙、言談分析、語用學、語料庫語言學。後部分著眼於應用語言學的基本領域，內容含第二語言習得、心理語言學、社會語言學、語言學習者動機策略。視進度，聽說讀寫等相關語言技能亦將介紹。修習本課程後，學生將有能力從介紹的領域中擇其所好從事進階的應用與研究。 |
Objectives |
The graduate course addresses topics in Applied Linguistics. It will be divided into two parts: the first part briefly reviews linguistic structures such as syntax, lexicon, discourse analysis, pragmatics and corpus linguistics, and the second part focuses on topics of applied linguistics such as second language acquisition, psycholinguistics, and sociolinguistics, and language teaching. Students interested in the various topics in linguistics will be able to explore them independently when they complete the course. |

本課程旨在研討語言學之基本理論及其應用。理論部份包括語音學、音法學、構詞學、句法學、語意學、語用學、話語分析、社會與語言及語言變遷等。應用部份之討論將以上述各領域為核心，探討其在法律、醫藥與治療、商業與職場、文化、教育、語言教育、文學分析及翻譯等各方面之實際應用。應用部份之討論將以生活中之實例及案例為之。學生需作課前及課外閱讀，課堂中需參加討論並作口頭報告。期末報告可選擇課程中之任何討論為主題，加以深入分析，作為書面及口頭報告 |
Syllabus |
The purpose of this course is to have students discuss the general field of linguistics in terms of its theory and application. The discussion on the theoretical part will include morphology, phonetics and phonology, syntax, semantics and pragmatics, discourse analysis, language varieties, and psycholinguistics and language acquisition. The discussion on the application will include linguistics and law; linguistics, medicine, and therapy; linguistics, business, and the workplace; linguistics and culture; linguistics and education; linguistics and literary analysis; and linguistics and translation. |
