課程目標 這門課旨在概要介紹應用語言學。主要分兩部分,前部分著眼於語言結構與語言使用,內容包含語法、詞彙、言談分析、語用學、語料庫語言學。後部分著眼於應用語言學的基本領域,內容含第二語言習得、心理語言學、社會語言學、語言學習者動機策略。視進度,聽說讀寫等相關語言技能亦將介紹。修習本課程後,學生將有能力從介紹的領域中擇其所好從事進階的應用與研究。 Objectives The graduate course addresses topics in Applied Linguistics. It will be divided into two parts: the first part briefly reviews linguistic structures such as syntax, lexicon, discourse analysis, pragmatics and corpus linguistics, and the second part focuses on topics of applied linguistics such as second language acquisition, psycholinguistics, and sociolinguistics, and language teaching. Students interested in the various topics in linguistics will be able to explore them independently when they complete the course.

學期成績是以期中報告和期末報告成績(50%)加上平時成績(50%)來計算。 「平時成績」包含習作品質、課堂表現、問題探討的能力,酌以參考平時出席情況等。

教學內容 一, 課程說明(Course Description)
This course aims to investigate not only the relations between the meaning components of the language, but also language and language-related problems in language societies where people use and learn languages. Our discussion will cover issues on three major questions: (1) How people understand spoken and written language? (2) How people encode their meaning in conceptual structure? (3) How language is conventionalized in mental structure? We will identify requirements for the necessary support for new generation foundations of language. Interdisciplinary areas to be covered in this course include, language processing, the syntax- semantics interface, the architecture of the language faculty and other cognitive capacities.
本科目為大學部語言學專題課程,在學期中將有三個需要透過探討來釐清的主要問題:(一)人類如何透過語言符號(包含書面與口語)完成心智意願的表達?(二)人類如何以概念結構來貯存回憶與智力及表現認知與反應?(三)語言能力的核心組件成分—如語意、句法、語音、音韻、構詞等—在語言社會中的結構如何互動?對於這些問題的研究,可使學員熟悉形式語意學幫助了解語言學習。
