ECONOMICS Textbook: Parkin, Economics (sixth ed)
First Semester: MICROECONOMICS Course objectives : students will be able to *define economics; *understand the problems it seeks to understand and solve; *understand basic economic concepts such as supply, demand, elasticity, markets, efficiency, public goods, externalities, monopoly, world trade
First semester schedule Week 1 & 2 -- Chapters 1 & 2
Week 3&4 -- Chapter 3
Week 5-6 -- Chapter 4
Week 7-8 -- Chapter 5
Week 9-10 -- Chapter 6
Week 11-12 -- Chapter 7
Week 13-14 -- Chapter 9
Week 15 -- Review
Course Structure: Each week there will be a lecture followed by a short quiz or test. There will be no midterm. There will be a final.
Requirements: Class attendence is mandatory. If you do not come to class, you may fail. Participation counts toward your final grade; the more you participate, the higher your grade.
Grading: Final grades will consist of the weekly quizzes and the final. These will summed to produce a percentage, which will be adjusted for attendance and participation.
