| 課程目標 |
都市的發展是人類文明歷史的具體舞台。舞台上的戲碼有文學的、社會的、經濟的、宗教的、科技的乃至政治的。本課程期望透過我國與世界各城市的影像與文字紀錄，讓同學由趣味的觀察與討論中，引伸思考都市的發展脈絡與問題。 |
Objectives |
The development of cities is the platform of human history. The performances on it involve literature,society,industry,technology and politics. By skimming over some record of worldwide cities and our country’s, it is expected to let the students to consider some problems in a city through their observation and discussion. |

都市發展之起源、演變與展望：在時間向度上，由城市的成形到古城市的性質、城邦出現到中世紀的城市狀況與規劃，乃至現代都市的發展與課題及未來展望，在空間向度上，則除包括西元文明的城市外、以台灣為本，探討中國及亞洲其他城市的發展。 |
Syllabus |
This course introduce cities' origins, transformations, and prospects. The focus of this course is on the foundations of cities planning and development. The literature describing the histoty of cities from West to East which provides the experiences for city development in Taiwan. |
