課程目標	本課程在於對英美小說中的不同時期、傳統、作家、與作品的了解、分析、與詮釋。對於主要作品的深入探討為重要目標之一。	Objectives	This course is to survey the major novelists and their works in order to explore major periods, traditions, and conventions of novelistic representations. Students are supposed to know how to analyze, interpret, and decipher some of the major works in both British and American novels.

教學內容	小說課要讀下列四本小說: Virginia Woolf's Mrs. Dalloway Michael Cunningham's The Hours John Fowl's Collector Ha Chin's Waiting 前兩本為比較研究其差異,期中考前須讀完 Collector 為變態心理小說 Waiting為中國文化小說,這兩本為期中考後的進度	Syllabus	Before mid-term, students have to compare two similar novels: Virginia Woolf's Mrs. Dalloway and Michael Cunningham's The Hours. After the mid-term, we will analyze a psycho-novel [John Fowel's Collector] and a Chinese novel [Ha Chin's Waiting].
