Objectives |
In this course, students will work on research projects. Projects and methods will vary according to the current research interests of the instructor. Special attention will be given to written reports, presentation of evidence, and logical thinking. |

Syllabus |
Marshall McLuhan wrote: “Education is ideally civil defense against media fall out.” This course takes seriously this aim by promising to teach students how to analyze the ways that media affect the choices, hopes, dreams and self-conceptions of people in Taiwan in the world. By way of hands-on ethnographic research and guided readings in media theory, this course will, thus, advance the capacity of students to understand and perhaps resist the influence of media of their lives. |
