Objectives |
This course is aimed at introducing to students basic translation theories and techniques, and through repeated practices on different topics, helping students possess the competence to translate. Topics to be covered include of: General texts; Political texts; Economic texts; Technical texts and etc. Therefore students are encouraged to read newspapers and magazines and keep abreast of important events. |

同學必須翻譯福爾摩斯小說中的章節 每個同學均必須於學期末交出自己的翻譯 然後與市場上已有的翻譯做出比較 上課採用報告與句法分析的模式 來引導同學進入翻譯的世界 單字學習本為所有學習單字的模式 同學必須背誦重要的單字 |
Syllabus |
I choose the complete Sherlock Holmes as the basic text for students to traslate some of the stories and to compare with the already published Chinese edition found in bookstores and libraries. Students not only have to practice translating stories but also have to memorize vocabulary found in "Learner's Companion Series: Vocabulary" as a way to enlarge their vocabulary capability. |
