本課程是進修部四技大一學生的兩學期必修課程。此共同的英文課程旨在提升學生基本溝通能力，以幫助學生加強聽說讀寫各方面的英語能力。 |
Objectives |
This two-semester course is required for all freshmen who are enrolled in the four-year evening program. It is a general English course that aims to enhance students’ basic communication skills, in order to help students strengthen the main skills in English language learning, such as listening, speaking, reading and writing. |
| 教材 |
老師講解課文之後，同學需做每單元的練習題，隨後請公佈個人之答案，與同學討論。另在課堂上聽錄音帶，做聽力練習。 |
Teaching Materials |
Students listen to the teacher's explanation of the text; then they are asked to do the exercise in advance and discuss their answers with the others. They take a dictation in class. |

（平時測驗及期中考缺考欲補考者，須於一週內提出申請，逾時不予受理。補考成績六十分以上者八折計算。﹞ |

本課旨在訓練同學熟悉日常美語慣用的表達法，諸如俚俗語、動詞片語等。同學可藉由閱讀真實有趣的故事來學習用法，而每單元後之練習可以更提供熟練這些慣用語的機會。期望同學在熟習慣用語之後能夠增進英語溝通能力。 |
Syllabus |
Students will learn high-freguency idioms, two-word verbs, and fixed expressions by reading true, memborable stories. They will be familiar with everyday idiomatic American English and thus increase their ability in communication in English. |
