Objectives |
Course Description: Piano Instruction for Groups is designed as an introduction to playing the piano. Skills will include note reading in bass and treble clefs, rhythmic reading, and other basic musical skills. Technical exercises are designed to aid students in playing the piano. Piano pieces are selected that are appropriate for beginning to advanced players. Group classes will also include ensemble pieces. |

Teaching Materials |
l Midterm and Final Exam:
Midterm and final exams will take place in the group piano lab. Each of these exams will consist of several components, which may include repertoire, sight reading, technique, and/or improvisation. You will receive detailed information regarding the content of the exam at least two weeks in advance of the exam dates.
Note: The final exam format is subject to change.
l Practice:
Students may practice in the group piano lab during open lab hours. |

Grading |
l Grading:
Students will be graded periodically in class on assigned materials, through prepared in-class performances, written quizzes, written assignments, etc. Each grade given during the semester will be weighted equally to determine your final course grade. Grades missing due to absence or tardiness will be averaged into the final grade as grades of “0”. |
