The course is divided into four parts. Each part corresponds to a particular novel or collection of stories. Each two hour, once weekely session will begin with a ten-question quiz deovted to the week's readings, except for the final week of each part which will comprise entirely of a 25-question exam that covers the entire book. Following quizzes, class in struction and discussion will begin. Students are encouraged to raise questions regarding the readings and the themes of the course. |

Quizzes and exames each comprise 50% of the grade repectively. For this reason, every quiz or exam counts towards students' grades. |

Syllabus |
The principle theme of this semester's course is the relation of the individual to the social condictions in which he or she must act. It is the assumption of this course that the questions raised in this course are directly applicable to students' lives. |
