Objectives |
This course is to survey the major novelists and their works in order to explore major periods, traditions, and conventions of novelistic representations. Students are supposed to know how to analyze, interpret, and decipher some of the major works in both British and American novels. |

Syllabus |
Students have to finish reading three novels in this semester: A Leaf in the Bitter Wind, Waiting, and Seven Years in Tibet. The inner content and historical significance will be the focus of our discussion. Students are required to memorize all vocabulary,to analyze historical background, and surf the Internet to find some data about these three contemproary novels. |
