教材 上課講授 本課程鼓勵同學提問或參與討論 DNA分子模型,投影片與錄影帶 Teaching Materials Teaching and discussions at class, DNA molecular model, and vedio tapes
成績評量方式 期中考,期末考以及一次專題報告(僅限食品與工業微生物應用)各占15%;學期總成績之55%之計算方式乃依據每週一次小考的成績,此外,平時的上課期間則不定期點名,每點到一次名(睡覺除外)加學期總成績一分以及口頭專題報告與討論優秀者(此部份各以十分為限),上課表現也是重點考核項目. Grading The following examinations will deserve 15% of the preliminary evaluation of the final couse-grading: (1). Mid.term examination (2). Final examination (3) Oral presentation (for food and industrial microbiology ONLY). The rest (55%) will be distributed among several short tests, which is set to be held one time per week. Besides, bonus credits with an additional 10% (in maximum) of the final course evaluation will given mainly based on the performance of course attendance and oral report & discussion.

教學內容 本課程之目的在於提供瞭解的理論,背景與應用.一般而言,人們大都會將微生物視為不潔的、可怕的,它們無所不在也是肉眼所看不見的微小生物(註:肉眼不能看小於100m的物體,即0.01cm);這些生物由於體型很小而必需藉助放大工具(如顯微鏡)來觀察,本課程特別強調的是原核細胞之細菌與真核細胞之真菌兩類.由於上課時數之限制,本課程將不涵蓋微生物之基因工程與重組DNA技術,此部份學生可藉由參與本系之專題討論以獲取相關資訊. Syllabus Small living creatures, called as microorganisms, interacted in numerous ways with human activities. This course, named as Applied Microbiology, will be designed to provide an appropriate balance between microbilogical fundamentals and potential applications. The overall theme of this course is the relationship betweeen microbes and our lifes. The relationship involved not only the harmful effects of certain microorganisms but also their beneficial effects. Special attention will be paid to bacteria (procaryote) and fungi (eucaryote). Due to time limitations, microbial genetics and recombinant DNA technology will not be covered in the class, however, students themselves are urged to gain wider microbiological background through the attendance in the microbiology-related seminar.
