課程目標 總體經濟學研究的範疇通常是以一個國家為主體,探討其總產出或所得之短期變化(即景氣循環)及長期趨勢(即經濟成長)。經濟學者主要透過種種經濟指標,如:國內生產毛額、貨幣供給、物價指數、以及所得分配等,來呈現一國的經濟活動。經由這些指標,我們就可以瞭解一個國家總體經濟活動的特徵。古典模型與凱因斯模型則是兩大理論,用來解釋重要的總體經濟現象。 Objectives This course is first to examine the long run when prices are flexible, and then to examine the short run when prices are sticky. That is, I begin with classical models of the economy and explain fully the long-run equilibrium before discussing deviations from that equalibrium. The topices are emphasized on several issues, such as: beginning with market clearing models makes clearer the link between macroeconomics and microeconomics;the classcial dichotomy permitting the separation of real and monetary issues, etc.

教學內容 My basic strategy when teaching this course is first to examine the long run when prices are flexible, and then to examine the short run when prices are sticky. That is, I begin with classical models of the economy and explain fully the long-run equilibrium before discussing deviations from that equalibrium. This strategy has several adavantages such as:beginning with market clearing models makes clearer the link between macroeconomics and microeconomics;the classcial dichotomy permitting the separation of real and monetary issues, the long-run material is easier for understanding.
